AGREEMENT TO OUR LEGAL TERMS

We are The Auspicious Company ("Company," "we," "us," "our"), a company registered in Massachusetts, United States.

We operate this website and related services that refer or link to these legal terms (the "Legal Terms") (collectively, the "Services").

We provide a comprehensive kanji learning tool that allows users to search Japanese kanji by JLPT level, view meanings, and learn proper stroke order through interactive animated diagrams. Our platform combines traditional learning methods with modern interactive technology to help Japanese language learners explore and master kanji characters.

These Legal Terms constitute a legally binding agreement made between you, whether personally or on behalf of an entity ("you"), and The Auspicious Company, concerning your access to and use of the Services. You agree that by accessing the Services, you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by all of these Legal Terms. 1. OUR SERVICES

The information provided when using the Services is not intended for distribution to or use by any person or entity in any jurisdiction or country where such distribution or use would be contrary to law or regulation or which would subject us to any registration requirement within such jurisdiction or country. Accordingly, those persons who choose to access the Services from other locations do so on their own initiative and are solely responsible for compliance with local laws, if and to the extent local laws are applicable.

The Services are not tailored to comply with industry-specific regulations (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), etc.), so if your interactions would be subjected to such laws, you may not use the Services. You may not use the Services in a way that would violate the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA).

2. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

Our intellectual property

We are the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in our Services, including all source code, databases, functionality, software, website designs, audio, video, text, photographs, and graphics in the Services (collectively, the "Content"), as well as the trademarks, service marks, and logos contained therein (the "Marks").

Our Content and Marks are protected by copyright and trademark laws (and various other intellectual property rights and unfair competition laws) and treaties in the United States and around the world.

The Content and Marks are provided in or through the Services "AS IS" for your personal, non-commercial use only, except for the Third-Party Licensed Materials described immediately below, which are governed by their own open licences and are not subject to that restriction.

Third-party licensed materials

Parts of our Services incorporate material published by third parties under open licences. We do not own that material, and nothing in these Legal Terms restricts any right you hold in it under the applicable licence. Where these Legal Terms conflict with one of those licences, the licence governs as to that material.

• Kanji stroke diagrams derive from the KanjiVG project, copyright © 2009–2011 Ulrich Apel, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0. We restyle the diagrams for display and print (for example their colours, line widths, fonts and size), but we do not change the strokes or their order. Our modified diagrams are shared under the same licence, and each standalone diagram image carries KanjiVG’s copyright notice and a note of what we changed.
• Some kanji readings and meanings come from the KANJIDIC dictionary file, the property of the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group, used in conformance with the Group’s licence (CC BY-SA 4.0).
• Example sentences come from the Tatoeba Project and are used under the licence shown with each sentence, such as CC BY 2.0 FR.

The site footer credits all three on every page, and each example sentence also credits its own author and licence where it appears. We apply no technological measure that would restrict your exercise of the rights those licences grant you.

What remains ours

Everything that is not Third-Party Licensed Material, or an adaptation of it that its licence requires us to share under the same terms, remains ours and is expressly reserved — including our written explanations and commentary, our selection, arrangement and presentation of any material (including our compilation of third-party licensed material), our source code, designs, and our Marks. Open licences covering individual components do not extend to the surrounding work.

Your use of our Services

Subject to your compliance with these Legal Terms, including the "PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES" section below, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

• access the Services; and
• download or print a copy of any portion of the Content to which you have properly gained access

solely for your personal, non-commercial use.
